Native American Beading

The 11th grade art class has been delving into the history of Native American bead work.  This upper level class explored the various ways North American Indigenous cultures crafted beads, and the types of materials they used to create them, prior to the arrive of non-Native Europeans.  The small, colorful glass beads, looms, thread, and needles, introduced by the Europeans, were quickly accepted and utilized by many Indigenous populations.  Froid's 11th graders  graphed out colorful bead-work designs and learned how to warp threads onto beading looms to create customized bracelets.
